Modern Game Bantam ~ Incubator Attempt
Popping this up as much for a reminder to myself as anything. But, either way, it'll probably add to the web available knowledge of the subject :( Not a great deal out there.
For the record then: Brinsea Mini Advance II. I'm torn. I never realised the eggs were so big! I thought they'd be pheasant and played for a dozen set.
Could've got the bigger one, had I realised. Never fill it though. Birds are 2 or 3 now. Too slow to lay.
So: Everything left as standard. *Except* I've set 7 eggs for 20 Days and to spin size 8 eggs. Oh, and No Water, till the 25th? Incubator is sat in a well ventilated box. Box is heated to 67F, so the incubator doesn't strain to warm itself.
I think that's it, isn't it? If no one has anything to add / ask? I guess I'll be back around the 28th? :|

Thursday, April 10th, 2025 O M G!!! Three Chickies, Glyn! :D
I need to go and build another cage! LOL!
I've actually been watching, every hour, all day yesterday. Two eggs had pipped a hole in the shell, without breaking the membrane? I'd stopped bothering to even look, by bed time. Figured that was it.
There we have it, so. The third one has smashed its shell, it's just figuring out the two halves now. Who knows what the next hours could yet bring?
Thanks for the pointers, mate! I'll go and fire up their brooder plate :-)

Sunday, May 4th, 2025 Glyn; I had two shrink wraps, k? That, I put entirely down to my own utter cluelessness. They're my fault. That's why, despite *their* faults, I have them in ICU. I could have done So much better, had I ... well, had the Experience to have recognised things :| So, yeah.
One egg? Dunno. Left it in there, till yesterday. One wrapper was using it for support. Using its own legs now.
FOUR chicks though?! :D I'm well pleased! Perpetuation of my little chickens, here we come! That's all I wanted.
LOL! Incubator was *Way* cheaper than trying to buy more birds! These little sods don't go, er ...

Monday, May 5th, 2025 Round Two?
What's a man to do?!
Got Four, absolutely lovely chicks, out in my back room. Here's a thing! I have them in a Long canary cage. K? Up at face level. Brooder plate this end. Left to it,they now tend to sneak up the far and of the cage and stand about. I think they're looking out the window, viewable from there. But, here's the thing:
If I walk quietly, through that door? Two little chicks will run, in horror. Length of the cage and straight under the brooder. Other two stand there, unfazed.
What's the betting I've got two of each?!
Anyway, yeah. Just went and found the seventh egg, in eight days? Sod it! Go on then! :D And, I've ~ I believe ~ learned So Much, from that lot? I've upped my game, this time!
Aiming them for 20 days, again, Glyn. Last ones started pipping on 19th DAY (29th) Next day, it was effectively all done.
