Stokbord
Has anyone used stokbord for flooring in coops or cages? Any good? what gauge did you use?

Wednesday, November 27th, 2024 I haven't used stokbord, but I just made a moveable chicken coop, in which I put 1 inch wire mesh on the main floor. I let most of the chickens out pretty much every day on grass. The wire is nice because most of the poop falls through onto the grass and there isn't nearly as much maintainance and cleaning necessary. Also, in this way you can put many more birds in a coop if you let them out pretty much every day. For the most part I am really liking this kind of a coop.

Friday, November 29th, 2024 Hello,
We've retro fitted stokbord to several of our coops here.
It's great stuff. Easy to work with, easy to clean. Hard wearing and robust. We use the lightest one available, 6mm I think?
So it's a thumbs up from us here.

Sunday, December 1st, 2024 Mo Hens, thanks thats really helpful. How did you fix it? The documentation advises oversize screw holes to allow for thermal expansion but I don't like that idea in the floor as I can see them trapping dirt/redmite. Do you think this is really necessary? I can see it on a roof in the sun but can't imagine a floor expanding that much.

Monday, December 2nd, 2024 I just cut it snug and fit it without any fixings. Not a bother on it.
If you need to take it up to get at mites or the like then it's easy. Whip it up , lorry lime underneath and chuck it back down. Job done.
