Discuss all aspects of raising poultry. No topic is too small
Hooded Crow.
Got the shock of my life today.
Group of youngsters approxametly 8 weeks old, let them out, heard strange noise and went down the garden.
A hooded crow had killed, stripped eaten 4 of them, when i rushed in it tried to fly away with another, gladly it dropped it.
I have kept poultry over 50 years and never, ever witnessed carnage like it.

Thursday, May 30th, 2024 I seen it to many times mostly over the last 12 years the worst I saw was where they killed to full grown hens that I had let out free range from their breeding after a long hot summer only to become snacks for the grey crows horid birds.

Friday, May 31st, 2024 I've seen young pheasants being attacked by one. They had been released about two weeks before hand. Just goes to show, they don't have much chance in the wild, when there is a lot of predators around.

Saturday, June 1st, 2024 Bastards of birds,we had a rogue flock here a few years back.
first pulled all the flowers out of five window boxes, then tried to pull the rubber seals off the weatherglazed windows.
Only solution was a Larson trap and i caught five within an hour of setting it. It was when i saw them pulling the windscreen wipers of a van in the village i knew i had to act.
All the remains were brought to the local gamekeeper so he could keep account of how many were despatched in the year.
