Sunday, February 5th, 2023 Keep the vids coming. Really enjoy them. I was out myself over Christmas. Think I'm wasting my time though, with just the one dog.

Thursday, February 9th, 2023 Seems keen. Is he marking correct? As soon as he marks, if he can be trusted, start looking for and blocking all bolt holes.

Thursday, February 9th, 2023 Subbed your channel there, very interesting. I'm sure there's times when my lads been hunting mink along a stretch of a river or stream, he's sounding and hunting but I've never seen a mink, but I know they are all around North County Dublin and I've actually seen traps on some rivers.

Thursday, February 9th, 2023 Yea I fecked up there. I threw a bit of frozen sod onto that hole, but when I trod it down, it didn't stick to the ground. Just as we were getting close to the rat, I threw more sod over the frozen bit of sod, dilidfing it a little, resulting in some light getting in. The rat then seen a way out and bolted.
That field was a mixture of beat and kale, so the rat had loads of cover around him when he bolted. Also, the tunnels are mad long. A lot of work, to get up to the rats, when he does find one. He seems to be spot on when marking. Ignores a lot of holes, and then goes mad when he finds one with something at home.
The dog needs loads more work. He's four now, and has seen very little to be honest. Not much around here, that I know of.
Yes, I've been trapping mink for many years, and have seen very little mink apart from when their in a trap. A lot of places to hide on the riverbank. Roots, rockpiles etc, be hard to get one with the terriers.

Thursday, February 9th, 2023 If he's good marking that's great. Soon as he marks, start blocking holes and pulling back any cover near the hole to find sneaky pop outs and also it'll allow the terrier to see the rat if it bolts, unless you have dogs to catch bolters you want to keep em in the burrow til the terrier reaches em.
