Satin Silkies.

Is anyone keeping Satin Silkies (not just Silkie crosses), I would like to find some out crosses for my flock next year to reduce inbreeding.

Never heard of them

They are silkies but without the silkie feathering, they don't get such a straggly mess in the rain.

Satin silkies as in with Pekin or bantam Cochin?

I used both pekin and cochin initially to create both bantam and large fowl but have been selecting and breeding back to silkie roosters for 5 generations now so they are pretty much pure silkie genetics bar the feathering.

I do want to try to breed out the silkie feathering all together by using satin roosters, but avoiding inbreeding.

I am hoping to find someone to swap roosters with. To make it more complicated I am after black, blue or dun as I want to avoid colour bleed. If the worst comes to the worst I may need to reintroduce some cochin blood.
