Peafowl

After a bit of advice. My peahen who looks very healthy and happy, often opens and closes her beak. I don't think she is gasping for air and it doesn't happen all the time. Wondering if this is normal or should I be worried?

Possibly 'Adjusting her crop'? I've had a chicken do it. Scared the hell out of me. But, no; It Wasn't Gapes. She's still fine as ever too.

Is this a new behavior by the bird, or has it always done it? Make sure it's not gapeworm. It'll spread to the rest of your birds, so you need to treat them all.

Will try and get Flubenvet tomorrow. Hopefully I still have time. Shes not constantly gasping and has times where she doesn't do it all all. Am very worried now and hope I can get it sorted in time. Thanks for all your advice.

No Flubenvet available anywhere. No vet has it as it's not licensed in Ireland. Another vet suggested Ivermectin. Anyone any experience of this?

Pm sent.

Ivermectin does work for gape worm but not other worms. If you get a hold of any flubenvet the recomended dose for gape worms is twice the normal dose.

I used fenbendazole based cattle wormer before and it sorted the problem now Ive heard people say fenbendazole doesnt work for gape but it worked for me.
