Broilers layer
Just wondering if anyone knows where I could get broiler’s layers as I want to see if I could breed my own broiler in a small scale. I am in the midlands area

Sunday, February 12th, 2023 Well I have wondered and thought about raising a broiler breed myself in the past. I wonder if you couldn't get broiler chicks from somewhere and limit their food and let them grow slowly. I have a theory that if you did this the hens would lay and you could use these chickens for breeding. But I think it would be best to get the chicks as young as possible, preferably somewhere within 24-48 hours from hatching, so that you can start the process of regulating their food as soon as possible. I am not sure if all or any broilers you would buy for meat are purebred though, so this might not work like this. Also, you might have to regulate the food for these chickens for the rest of their life, I'm not sure.

Sunday, February 12th, 2023 I am not well up on it myself but i taught the boiler birds we eat are a cross of four different types of birds maybe i am wrong. So what I am looking for is the final breed of hen and cock that produces the broiler chicks

Sunday, February 12th, 2023 Broilers will have a trademarked name i believe . But for your own consumption and breeding I wouldn’t be over complicating it.
Feed them grain and keeping them lean and fit . breed them together or with a similar breed such as Cornish or another breed with good frame. you should get good meat producing birds then

Monday, February 13th, 2023 Thanks for getting back to me on the broiler subject I might try that and see how it turns out and at the same time if anyone knows where to get the broiler layers from I would be interested in 4 or 5 hens and 1 rooster
