Discuss all aspects of raising poultry. No topic is too small
Electric Fences?
Possibly a stupid question. But, my mate's holding my beer, so here goes:
Would a mains powered fence, designed and used for cattle, harm chickens?
Thanks.

Wednesday, February 8th, 2023 I may not know what I am talking about here. But with some quick thinking it seems to me that this kind of fence might plop someone's chickens over pretty quick, if the chickens touched it.

Wednesday, February 8th, 2023 No, the same energisers are used for both. Hens are fairly resilient when it comes to electric fences as the feathers insulate them.

Wednesday, February 8th, 2023 Cool. Thanks for that, guys.
I did notice that the sales section here is offering the same pair of energisers for horses And chickens.
Was, frankly, wondering what purpose an electric hen fence would serve, if it had to be turned down so low as to tickle a fox.
Head full of ideas and schemes just now. There could be questions.
Don't worry though; Electricity bill will be in soon. Then, as The Boss so beautifully put it:
" And all those things that seemed so important; Well, Mister, they vanish into the air. " :(

Wednesday, February 8th, 2023 An electric fence only uses electricity if its earthing out they add little or nothing to your bill.
