Bird ring ID
Hi,
A pintail drake harvested a few days is bearing a purple aluminium ring with those numbers on it 21 9.0 024.
This is not a national scheme ring (checked with eurings).
It is more than likely an aviary escapee.
I was wondering if anybody would have info?
Thanks
Aurelien

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022 Aurelien; I'm a Ringer myself. Bit distracted when I read ye post there. Thus, as a knee jerk, I consulted with an American 'Bander'. Not one of theirs either.
But, then he dropped the bombshell we'd missed! If it was ringed by a Ringer? It might have a colour ring, like that. But, it would most certainly Also have one of our standard rings! Argh!
So, yeppers. Almost certainly a private individuals ring. Much like what I used to buy for the canaries I once bred. Whose and where from? Be a turn up for the books, wouldn't it?

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022 Is it a closed ring or a split ring, if the former it was bred in captivity and rung as a ducking. Probably impossible to trace.

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 The 21 and the purple colour relate to the year (2021) 9.0 is the breeder and the 024 is the 24th bird bred that year. Without knowing who sold the rings it would be difficult to trace who breeder 9.0 was. Club rings usualy have letters on and are easier to trace.

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022 Thanks for all the answer. It is a closed ring and after some research, it is in fact a private aviary ring.
I was hoping someone would know who … long shot, I know but it would have been nice to know …
Thanks again …
