Surrounding counties? Try me. I don't drive. But, I know of men that do.

We can consider this Urgent. So, " Sure, try Roscommon at the end of the month. Ye may get lucky. " isn't what I'm looking for. Thanks anyway :)

Thank you.

Location: Co. Leitrim

Before you try to get lucky read the "red/gold Silkie wanted" post on here and see Desy's reply.

Thanks, Joseph. Simply proof of the #1 Rule of the internet: 'Say something and Someone will say you're wrong.'

I've read a Lot of internet. There's a very significant majority in one camp. Let's just say I'm most likely to politely decline a White silkie, for my own reasons.

Iron is; Scanning, yesterday, I'm pretty sure it was Limmerick where I saw some cracking looking Buff (Brown, Red, Ginger, Unrecognised ambery colour) silkies.

Someone has some, just south east of Athlone too.

You can definitely use a buff silkie to breed sex linked goldtops, or any other gold based colours such as red or gold partridge. I have done many times. People tend to use whites because they are the easiest golds to get ahold of, with the gold colouring hidden by the recessive white gene.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I know nothing about silkies or gold tops. A lot of the internet is confusing the more you read the more confused you get I find. What I do respect is the opinion of someone who has bred, exhibited and judged poultry for over forty years.

I don't exhibit, but I have bred goldtops for over half a century.

Sorry Glyn that wasn't a reply to your comment.Yours came in while I was writing the other one. I respect the opinion of all people who share and pass on the benefit of their experience.

I used to drink in a very popular bar. Gerard was the best barman I've ever known. Saturday night. Shoulder to jostling shoulder, three thick at the bar?

Gerard would point both fingers, like he'd pulled two guns, at someone. The world would stop. There'd be only That customer, and Gerard, in existence.

None of the other " Two pints of lager and a packet of crisps, please!!! " Existed. In that pool of tranquillity, ye'd just say, at normal level; " OP, please, Ger'." And he'd pour ye pint. Hand it to ye and go do the fingers thing at someone else.

I once asked him about this. I'd never seen it before or since. He told me; " Sure, They're like a pack of Dogs. Try to work out who's 'first'. Or listen to who's shouting loudest? Ye'd get nothing done. It'd overwhelm ye."

GLYN ~ I'm pointing. Should I then add a White Sikie to my list, please?

Thank you.

White silky will certainly do the job, but I would understand a reluctance to go that route, whites, especially silkies can look a bit of a mess after a muddy winter. Maybe a case of taking what you can find, especially as all the sales are now closed because of avian flu.

Thanks, Glyn. Interesting stuff.

We could close this thread now. It being a direct advert. Only, I Think I'm sorted! Early next week? Long taxi trip.

Men may call me many things, behind their hand. But, those who actually Know me may tell you my will power and single minded determination has to be admired. Even if it Does, at times, lead me down the path only a lunatic would follow! LOL!

May be looking at doing a Lord Percy ~ Black Adder? Dunno. What ever. Things often work out to seemingly have happened for a reason. Don't they? :)

Thanks, All.
