Anyone raising pigeons?

Hello all. I was curious if anyone is raising pigeons for meat and if its viable. Thanks for any info.

I couldn't see it been viable with the price of grain,get your self a catapult and get free wild ones.

If there is food they can scavange where you are located and not too many predators about so you can let them fly free, they should only need a little grain each evening to keep them hanging around. Homers crossed with runts or kings should give good sized squabs and be able to fly strongly enough to look after themselves.

There are also pigeons for sale on donedeal. People often list them with poultry so it is better to do a general search for pigeons.

Just wanted to say that if you have a good breeding pair of pigeons these might produce 6 clutches of 2 eggs you'll have 12 young ones, out of a pair of chickens you could end up to 200 ore more offspring

That's true Uk54 and if the sparrow hawk got hungry you'd get no squeezes at all.
