? About Peafowl Eggs

I take it that, when buying fertile eggs, it's simply a matter of luck what pops out?

Not quite as insane a question as it may sound. I'm certain I heard something like the exact temperature, or humidity can and does have an effect on the sexes hatched. Only, I think that might have been turtles?

It doesn't work, if it did the big hatcheries would use it, in birds sex is determined in the egg before incubation.

If you look at the post 'why so many roosters?' you will find it interesting.

Thanks, Joseph. I'd not realised there was a new reply. Not used to the place, yet.

Yeah; I just fancy a Peacock about the place. Love their call :)

Only, as I understand it, thus far? It sounds like the only practical way of getting one to not just fly off is ~ much like Guinea fowl ~ to hatch and rear them in situ.

I'm fine with that. But, at 25.00 an egg ... And how many hens am I supposed to be fine with on that road? :|
