Very concerned about my hen.

When I woke up this morning I noticed that one of my hens had one eye shut and the other one all foamy. I immediately got worried and put her in quarantine. I thoughroly cleaned the coop and checked all the other chickens. I don't know what this is and what to do. I came here for some advice. She is a black rock and she is between 4-5 months old.

Also there might be a possibility of some kind of Mycoplasma.

So Marcas did you talk to your vet? If so what did he say? I am interested to know because I had a chicken with a swollen eye a while ago and I think I hadn't seen it till it got pretty bad. You may have seen my thread about it. Anyways the vet said it was a type of mycoplasma.

Yes I did talk to my vet and he said it was not mycoplasma. She had managed to poke her eye quite badly u told the vet about the foamy stuff but he said not worry about it.

Did the vet actually see the bird?

If there is a problem in both eyes it doesn't sound like a poke in the eye. Mycoplasmosis can't be ruled out without a swap been taken and the sample sent to the laboratory.

My thoughts too Joseph, you are spot on.

Yes he did see the bird and I am not sure why. I thought it was mycoplasma when I first saw it I was very confused when he said that she had just injured her eye. She has healed now and seems to be healthy.
