White wash/lime wash

Does anyone know how to make this? I want to use it on the inside of a homemade brooder box. I know it's lime and water but is there anything else in it? I'm also wondering about the proportions to use. Any advice greatly appreciated.

People used to put in one part cement 3 parts lime and blue stone was put in it for a hard glossy finish I dont no about using it in brooders though.

Thanks Paddy but I'd be afraid to use that mixture on a chickens box. Would the lime and water mixed to a thick consistency do?

As Paddy says, do not make it to watery as it makes a terrible mess.
Rhino hydrated lime is the best.
Make sure you cover your hands and face, as it can burn severally.

Thanks Paddy and Desy. I'll do that. Sometimes the old methods are the best!
