Brinsea Octagon 40 humidity

Hey all, Iíve a Brinsea Octagon 40 with no way of telling what the humidity is, in my 11 years of incubating, Iíve never measured humidity and always got successful hatches. I was wondering if filling in 2 trays with water is enough or filling all 4 should be full of water? Or how does brinsea expect someone to know the humidity if thereís no humidity reader with the incubator?! Iím incubating emu eggs and they need a 30-35% humidity but I just filled 2 trays and not 4.

Thanks for any help!

Hope this helps.

I fill two prior to lock down then all four trays ready for hatching but I have only used mine for goslings.

Seriously, don't stress about humidity. I have the best success doing 100% dry hatch. Sometimes if some eggs have pipped for some time, and the membrane around the pip goes yellow, I moisten a paper towel with warm water and squeeze out most of the water and place the damp paper towel into the incubator, and this provides enough humidity for the stragglers to hatch without issue. Ireland has very high moisture in the air. All the hatches where I have filled the water chambers at lockdown have had very poor yields. Best of luck!
