Wednesday, November 25th, 2020 I also am looking for some Barred Plymouth Rock hatching eggs or preferably young chickens. Where or how can I contact Eleanor Russel?
Also I have some questions about the different colours of Plymouth Rocks such as blue, black, buff ect. Are these different colours purebred Plymouth Rock or are they a mixture of BPR and other chickens. Or did they come about from the selective breeding of BPR. I would really appreciate some help with these questions.

Thursday, November 26th, 2020 You can have partridge, columbian, black, buff, barred, white and blue.
These are the 7 colours recognised by the Plymoth Rock Club and all standardised.
All bred by selective breeding many, many years ago.
The black are used in breeding with the barreds to strengthen the barring.
All colours are recognised in both large and bantam.
I believe Eleanor is on this site.

Thursday, November 26th, 2020 So am I correct in saying that all the different colors of Plymouth Rock were selectively breed from the original Barred Plymouth Rock?
Online I gathered that different breeds were breed into Barred Plymouth Rock to get the different colors.
I can not seem to find Eleanor Russel on hear. Maybe somebody has her contact info that they could give me or maybe she has a website someone could give me. Thanks

Friday, November 27th, 2020 No you are wrong.. It would be impossible to breed partridge, buff etc from barred.
It goes with contradiction that many breeds were used in the make up of the various colours.
This was way back in the 1920's/30's, when the breed was much sought after for it's laying ability.
The colours have now been breeding true for almost a century.
Yes Eleanor is Definitely on FB..
There is a hatchery which breeds several of the large varities, Johnstons of Mountnorris..County Armagh..

Friday, November 27th, 2020 They must have changed recently..
They were well known for breeding sussex, plymouth rocks, leghorns and hybrids..
I guess times are changing.
There is another woman , Veronica Brown, lives outside Rathfriland.
She breeds many of the large colours of Plymouth rocks and many other traditional breeds
There is also a guy near Kilkeel, Andrew Naomi Bingham, all colours large rocks and leghorns...

Friday, November 27th, 2020 This all help all guys thanks. I had finally decided that the different color of PR must have been created by other breeds being mixed with BPR but it was extremally difficult to pinpoint anything online. The one problem is that all the people you named who may have PBR are far away from me. I live in Waterford Co. Although I haven't checked about Eleanor Russel I am assuming she lives pretty far from Waterford. If anybody knows of someone closer that would be great. Also Friends and relatives of mine travel to Dublin airport frequently so if there is someone near there that would be great to.

Saturday, November 28th, 2020 I think I know what I want and that is Purebred Barred Plymouth Rock. I was confused about the different colors of PR and now I figured that out. But BPR seem almost nonexistent in Republic of Ireland so I am getting some hatching eggs from the UK.
