Breeding Young Bantams/Unusual Breed Chickens
Hi all,
I'm considering setting up a breeding program for chickens sometime in the next year, but I'd want to know if I'd get buyers.
I'd breed purebred chickens like Silkies, Polish, maybe Orpingtons and Ayam Cemanis, and possibly other breeds or bantam versions.
They'd be sold as unsexed chicks/growers or older pairs.
They would be for those who want unusual flock members/pets/show chickens, not for the pot!
Would you or anyone you know be interested?
(I'm based in Connacht)

I was just hoping there would be some people wanting chicks, I myself bought polish + silkies just this year... Thanks for replying.

Monday, November 23rd, 2020 You would need to build a reputation for yourself first.
If you intend to sell for exhibition, quality would need to be high and you would need plenty of big wins behind you.
There is always a demand for common farmyard bantam for broodies/clockers..
Please do not think you are going to make money from it! Sadly it wont happen.
You could end up with 90% cockerels, no demand for them.
Get yourself a few birds to occupy yourself and enjoy them.
Regards Desy.

Monday, November 23rd, 2020 I'm not really in it for the money, just a little breeding + selling. They will be purebred, and, when allowed, I will take some of my poultry to shows.
