Chick problem

this was my first time . I had 3 ducklings and 3 chicks I put them in a plastic box with newspaper but they slipped on the newspaper so I put down shredded paper it worked.the plastic box was a bit small the food and water were right beside each other it got messy really quickly they were happy for 5 days then one chick died out of nowhere. So I decided to put them in a wooden brooder they had much more space I did not put anything on the floor of the brooder because they could walk properly that night the heat plate got plugged out somehow so 2 ducklings. 2chicks And 1duckling survived this morning I woke up and the duckling was dead. I don’t want any chicks to die please tell Me what’s going on

Was there any blood in the poo?
Were they warm enough, have access to clean food and water?

I have been raising both chicken and ducks for a few years now , but in my experience I never put the two together as chick's as they really do fight and the time I did put them together I had same experience casualties so now I always separate them , this is my experience but might not be the reason but it was mine .

So you have only two chicks left is it? Sorry I'm confused?
The chick likely didn't just die out of nowhere. It might have suddenly died yes but more likely was showing symptoms. Was it gaping its mouth (opening and closing it)? Did it have it's eyes closed?
Observe them closely for a few minutes.
How old are they ?

The chick that died first did not walk properly the 2 chicks are alive and well they are 8 or 9 days old

The chick that died, did it hatch unaided or did you help it to hatch?

they all hatched themselves

When a chick hatches with leg problems it's often a symptom of something else wrong inside the chick (not always). You'll often hear people say a chick not walking properly only lived a few days. One reason people don't keep chicks and ducklings together is because ducks are so messy with the drinking water the chicks can get wet. They will chill and die if wet. Prob best to try sperating them in future. Best of luck with the two little ones!
