We're they really called a Hoover?

As a child my mother and I would collect day old chicks which came on the Dublin bus. When we got them home she put them in what she called a Hoover. It was metal and round probably about two feet in circumference with sliding doors in the side and a lid with a hole in the middle for an ordinary light bulb. I now wonder if that was the right name for it. Is there anyone on here that remembers what I'm talking about.

They were hover brooders. Early versions of the heat plates.we made them for years with legs and hanging versions. The were called electric hens then.
The other ones were Rupert brooders which were big metal ones and were paraffin or electric.

Thank you for clearing that mystery up. Obviously ours must have been one of the Rupert ones. We found it lately rather battered but recognizable and it brought back so many happy memories.
