Culler listings

Hi all,

Does anyone know of cullers in the east Cork area?

Maybe this post could be used as a listing area for cullers around the country, similar to breeders directory....

Any thoughts or info much appreciated.

Just someone who kills birds I guess. Do you expect cullers to process the birds too?

Yeah that's what I mean, sorry if I got the term wrong, I heard it used before and it stuck.

Yeah, someone who kills excess cockerels for freezer. I've no problem with processing guts and stuff,I do need to learn more on processing the right way, it's the killing part.i don't think I can kill and don't have the strength to kill bird outright to put it out of its misery quick.

Problem I have is I never have many to kill so it's useless me going to a big processing plant to kill one or 2 or 4.

There must be someone local to you who kill fowl.a neighbour or someone.either that or learn the brush handle method

No unfortunately.

I have a few questions on processing if anyone can shed some light on it. I watched this video and realized it takes a good 2 minutes for the decapitated bird to stop flapping. I think putting it straight in the water to scald helped put it out of its misery faster but I could be wrong...

Is it possible to go straight from cone to water to quicken it or does this message up the bleed out or something else I'm missing?

Does stunning help the chicken feel less pain and fright?

What can be done with feathers, feet and guts? Burn in fire? Any other way if a person doesn't have a fire?

Buy a humane dispatcher - no hand strength needed and quick/easy

Just got to work up the courage to kill, I get weak at the knees and sick to the stomach thinking of it, hard when you see them hatch and grow up
