Sexing chicks

Just wondering does anyone have a way of sexing chicks as day olds I tried the needle and thread but donít have much faith in it

Vent sexing

This video shows someone sexing quails, it will give you an idea of what you need to look for i.e. the 'bulb' on the rear side of the vent (Ignore the foaming):

2:30 onwards:

On chicks it's obviously at a much smaller scale, but if you know what you are looking for, as a novice, you might be able to identify the 'bulb' or 'bubble' on some of the roosters particularly where it's more developed.

I would not recommend anyone to try vent sexing unless they have been professionally trained,high degree of skill involved and chicks can be damaged beyond repair by hands that don,t know what they are doing or looking for. If you can say what breed the chicks are someone may be able to tell you what to look for at early or later stages of development.
