heat lamp

just bought my first incubator. do i have to have a heat lamp or is it warm enough in the spare room for them, itll be about end of june start of july by the time its delivered and chicks hatch

Don't buy heat lamp, electric hen is much better, safer and cheaper "on electricity and lasts much longer"
Buy the biggest you can afford "money and space"
If you leave the chicks at room temperature they will die.

I always look at this way , how many times will you be hatching eggs , if it's going to be 1 or 2 per year then an electric hen could work out more expensive than the heat lamp . Also depends on size of clutches you are going to get out of incubator . You might put in 24 eggs but you might only get 12 , 14 hatch lots to think about. Good luck and most of all enjoy .
