Bird flu/egg shortage

I heard today about mass culling of thousands of laying hens in the northern half of the country and just found this on multiple farms

That article is from December 2019. There was a bird flu (not human pathogenic) outbreak in Monaghan last month with about 60,000 birds culled mostly layers.
