Chickens gone from pen

My 6 chickens where gone from their pen this morning when I went to check on them. There was a few feathers in the pen and a little bit of guts in one corner, but no bodies. The gate was closed tight and there was no holes etc where a fox buried in. Any ideas what might have took them? My dad thinks it might have been a pine martin but everything Iíve read suggests they leave the body and just kill for fun.

do u not lock them in the house at night?
even with an outside pen, i make sure they are all locked in at night, anything outside is fair game.

A piney or a mink id say.did you find a hole where they got in.watch for hair stuck on the wire they got in and out a few times.they definitely left hair after them examine it closely

I agree with the above it could be mink or pine marten, if you can afford it, get an automatic door opener

I,d say rather than getting an automatic door opener i,d be looking at making a vermin proof pen.
Somethings got access to the birds so you need to trap whatever it was and then proof the pen, pointless getting more birds until you do that.

Go search the fields for a den. Hungry cubs need feeding. Should be some feathers lying about along the route it took, with six birds being brought off.
