I boil spare ones for chicks and if I've no chicks to feed I gather them up and give them to the young fellas to trow at the guards I don't like them going to waste.

You can't sell them to a shop only to the costumer. And for a sign up you can't say that they are free range. If you want to sell to the shop you need a license.

you can put free range on a sign, but not "for sale" bit,
dept vet told me that .
cant sell to a third party without being passed by dept of agriculture , loads of red tape.

I contacted the Department and was told that I can keep up to 49 hens but if I want to keep more than 49 laying hens and sell them as free range I would need a enseption and a licence if not I could be brought to court by the big guns

If its duck eggs you can't even sell one without the Department calling out

Why are you gone on to duck eggs now?
Il try again let's go back a bit.
If you look back my question was
"Why can't you say free range on the sign when selling hen eggs"

Even though you're hens are free range I am told by the Department they have to come out to see your sheds and poultry to make sure all boxes are ticked. And as I said before if have free range on your sign without the Department calling out and passing you it can cost you. If this does not help you give them a ring.

I understand that to be the case when advertising organic eggs for sale.
How ever I think in order to advertise as freerange it's just defined by the length of time they can spend roaming outside. Thanks

You can set up an honesty box and see does it work.knowing my luck they would bring the eggs the box and the sign
