Dividing eggs in incubator

Looking for advice

I have a brinsea ovation 56 ex

It has eggs from different 3 Breeding lines of the same breed in it

How should I separate the eggs to know which chick is from which line? Im not in a position to sit watching each egg hatch

If you have not seperated or marked the 3 different lines as you set the batch its a bit late now . You should have a plan in place before you start a task not as you go along. If they are all in the same incubator and hatch on the same date so much for line breeding. There was nothing wrong with setting the 3 lots on different days which would have let you seperate them.

I have the eggs marked, I was thinking cardboard or some sort or some sort of plastic dividers should work and to obviously check it as frequently as possible.

If I set them different days,I couldn't control humidity properly for final hatching days. The humidity would be too high for 2 sets of eggs while OK for the first ones set down

I have an R com 20 and I made a plastic divider to the full height of the incubator -it works very and I put in place at setting time

The pedigree utility poultry breeders in the past used small mesh cages or muslin bags to keep hatching eggs from different hens seperate, the eggs were placed into them a few days prior to hatching, maybe you could fashion small cages to place inside your incubator, Ive seen old photos in books and I noticed that there was always lots of space in the little cages, the chicks when hatched were toe punched to identify them or they had a wing tag with a number on it so they could be brooded together, this has largely been replaced with plastic coloured leg rings, Im sure the shop on this site has them. Hope this helps. Good luck
