Poultry Auction

I am putting out feelers for a Poultry Auction to be run twice a year. Once in March and the second in Septemeber. *The idea being as follows, **Sick birds would be refused entry to the Auction.
**All birds must be off heat or accompanied by a mothering bird
** each cage is one lot with a small fee to cover cost of hire of cage. 50c per lot
** lots can be entered up to 1 month before hand with entry closed 24 hours before auction
** Catalogue of Lots given on entry to Auction at 2 per buyer. ***No Commission applies following entry fee.
** Sellers could place a reserve on each lot and lots would not he sold unless bids are above reserve.
** No restrictions on amount of birds per lot.

I feel that this would give rise to sellers getting enough for birds worthy of the money and buyers getting quality birds.
Auction would run on Saturdays with cages open at 08.00am Viewing of Lots from 10am and Auction commencing at 12 midday with a few to finish before 3pm.

Questions:
Do sellers feel this would benefit the sale of their stock?
Do buyers feel this would benefit them in purchasing good quality full bred birds?
Does everyone think this would take off?

I think it's a great idea

There have been auctions before which kind of dwindled after some time. But if it was only twice yearly I wouldn't see why not.

Sounds good. Depending where it is to be held ,would make a difference.

Sounds like a great idea. Theres a lot of bad quality birds at some of the sales. Catalogue a good idea too. I think the seller and buyers would benefit and would also be a nice day out. Best of luck with it.

It sounds good but have a good look at cost of venue, insurance and any other overheads first to make it even worthwhile.

I'd love to go to it too but a word of caution. What prices to birds need to make
and in what volumes to make the cost of of the venture reasonable? I suspect there's only a small % of high end birds traded here.
