Soft and brittle egg shells

Hi,

I've hens in the back garden for a few years now but a lot of their eggs have very soft shells.

I'm feeding them standard layers pellets, they have access to grit and oyster shell and they free range in the garden. They're mite and lice free.

Any advice on what I can do? Maybe a particular type of pellets or anything else?

Cheers.

Your hens are probably to old sounds like its time to cull them.

Thanks for the reply, Paddy, but their eggs have always been brittle even when they were younger.

What breed are they that doesn't sound right.

If you give them a lot of treats that is what you get

They're cuckoo marans and one black rock. Always had soft shells. No treats at all, just layers pellets. They're old now and I'm about to replace them so I don't want the same thing to happen with the next batch!
