What plants are good for chickens

Hello, I have an area in a new chicken run where I can plant stuff for chickens. I'll have them growing through chicken wire so the plant/weed itself can't be dig up. Any suggestions? Thank you

The chicken wire is a great idea! I am also interested in which plants chicken like. I have recently learned that they like Lavender for it's aromatherapy qualities. I've hung some in the coop to both make it smell fresher and to help soothe them. Not sure if it works, but it looks pretty! ;)

Peppermint, marigold, lavender basil and rosemary are all good for keeping away bugs of different types. Don't know if they eat them but would be handy in a coop

Good old Nettles, cut in bunches and dried for a few days go down very well, dandelions and young docks cut up with a scissors are other good sources of greens for birds, they,ll make the egg yolk a lovely deep orange colour.

Chickweed, they love it! You can order seeds on ebay from England. I got it from a lady who sells mixes for tortoise. Everything in the mix should be edible for the chickens. :)
