What to feed newly hatched quail

Have some quail due out this weekend. What is the correct thing to feed. A lot if what I have read suggest game bird starter. However don't know of anywhere close (north Kildare) which sells it. Planning to feed chick starter or Turkey starter. In the event can't get game bird starter which should I feed?.

If you cant get Game Bird starter Turkey starter will do.While some people have used chick crumb its too low in protein. This time of year I use game starter but later in the year I use turkey starter asits all thats available.I put them on layers pellets at 4/5 weeks old and usually get eggs before they are 7 weeks old.

Turkey feed is good enough in my experience.

If raising small numbers chick crumb should do,supplemented with some hard boiled egg, poppy seeds for first few days and some mealworms

Thanks Thorsten. Local agri store only had chick crumb. Do you dampen the crumb when mixing in the egg or mix dry

I'd give egg in a separate bowl and throw out whatever is left after a few hours. If there small quail you might have to grind down the chick crumb a not. After a few days I've seen them tearing up spiders or whatever they can catch
