Any rescue organisations for the likes of goats and pigs?

Hi,

My husband and are interested in keeping pigs,we thought about it before but thought we wouldn't be able to eat them, weve actually now become Vegetarian and still want pigs so we're thinking of getting a couple of kunekunes and were just thinking maybe rescueing might be something nice to do and looking at pygmy goats too.

Obviously know these are expensive but just thought if there was an organisation for this I'd look into it,something like the donkey sanctuary but for goats and pigs?
Thanks

There is one with all manner of pigs in it, big, small, fat, thin, ugly & it's open to the public. They can be seen gorging from the troughs & can never get enough, their insatiable. There are quite a few Boers in it too, my favourite is one called Michael. The runts are everywhere too, look out for Leo & Simon especially. It's based just off Kildare St in Dublin !

try the national exotic animal sanctuary and ispca. last winter the ispca (main quarters I think is Longford) couldn't take in goats as they had to many.

you need to get a herd number from your local dep of ag office before you get any pigs or goats. they will come out and see that you have food water shelter and fencing .then you can get pigs and goats

You need food water shelter.and a stock proof fence. The dvo office are very helpfull .you will be sent a herd register and a booklet on pigs or goats .you can then rescue animals from the rescue and you will be fully compliant.
