Wild rabbits

Well lads I was thinking of making a big pen possibly 50 foot by 12 foot and putting down mesh and then putting about 4 foot of soil on top for about 25/30 foot of it so they can burrow and putting a few wild rabbits in it to see will they breed so I can release them in my area do Ye think it would work ?thanks

Fairly sure it's not legal to capture, transfer, or captive breed any type of wild animals without a license.
Best you could do is make your land more attractive to them.
If rabbits aren't plentiful in your area, then there must be a reason for it. Too many predators, too much disease, too little food, too much competition from similar species, etc.

I haven't seen a rabbbit in my townland for many years.

Up the road, there's hundreds of them.

Strange!

Why don't you just build your pen and buy a few rabbits and release them into it rather that catching wild ones?

if he is trying to re populate the area, why use pet rabbits? they wont survive.
