I showed a picture of one to a Swedish lady yesterday, she'd never seen one. Is this a clever branding/marketing exercise by someone who wants to sell chickens?

Nope, they do exist - and are rare. One of those breeds that has clung on through the years. Came across a guy in USA who has some. They are pretty.

There is a lady in mayo too that has them. Shelagh is her name if anybody else know her surname.

I had a rooster i hatched a while back, medium size, gorgeous mix of colours, they are described as a landrace breed so you take what nature sends you as opposed to breeding true like a pure breed...its a lovely drive by the lake if you go to Mayo to collect the eggs....and seller is very nice to deal with. Rj.
